THE TRAVELING MUSLIM

ABOUT US
Travelling is a life-changing experience where you come into contact with people and their customs you would never otherwise. Too many travel writers focus on the instagramable moments rather than than the raw and unfiltered experiences from those who call that place a home.
We travel to places that have a story to tell: the good and the bad. We discover both popular cities and places that are off the beaten track with pictures that deviate from the filtered, glossy ones. We travel to take a few moments to be humbled by the natural wonders of this world rather than say ‘look at me!’. We share anecdotes on the ups and downs of travelling as halal-conscious travellers. We travel to both explore and to learn. We experience cultures through its people and its cuisines and create a sense of adventure through the places we visit and the activities we engage in. Above all, our travel stories have a purpose: supporting local communities and businesses in an attempt to change perceptions of halal tourism in the travel and tourism industry.
Just Another Halal-Friendly Travel Blog?
We often face many prejudices as Muslim travellers during a journey, which can sometimes begin as soon as we arrive at the airport. It doesn’t always stem from non-Muslim participants. In our wanderlust quest for new and far away lands, it is ufortunate that in many cases we fall victim to the bias of other Muslim participants who fail to see our full value as tourists. Recent trends show that Muslim travellers are the fastest growing segment within the global tourism industry, and yet we still ask why halal-tourism is so underdeveloped when compared to other kinds of tourism. The Traveling Muslim aims to help halal-conscious travellers make better informed travel decisions for a travel experience that is both pleasant and educational. This blog aims to guide halal nomads who want to gather useful information to navigate their way around the globe without the need to compromise on their religious beliefs and practices.
